James LaRue Avery (November 27, 1945 – December 31, 2013) appeared as himself during the filming of "Scenes from a Mall". The footage was then included during the episode's credits as a blooper.
He was best known for his role as Philip Banks in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, with his character being mentioned in "Scenes from a Mall".
