K.C. is one of Laura's friends who hangs out with her a lot. Of course, she had a difficult life growing up with a mother who does not care much about her, just like Steve, Greta, and of course Maxine. In "Best Friends" when Laura's mother Harriette tries to be closer to her and her friends but only to embarrass her such telling them embarrassing stories of her from when she was a baby, and doing the funky chicken. This of course ended up being the last straw to where Laura tells Harriette to leave her alone. Maxine and KC ended up setting her straight for telling her mother to leave her alone even when all she ever wanted was to be her friend and of course they also told her that mothers are going to embarrass their daughters all the time, as it is part of their jobs because they love their daughters no matter what. They also admitted to Laura that they are not closer to their respective mothers as she is with hers (such as Maxine having neglectful parents just like Steve and Greta) which also hinted that K.C. could even be neglected by her own mother. Within that, they leave just to get a bite to eat at Mighty Weenie leaving Laura to regret her shallow attitude towards her own mother.
