Isetta
"It's a BMW. A Beemer, babe. A 1960 Isetta."
Steve Urkel to Laura Winslow[src]

A 1960 BMW Isetta was given to Steve Urkel in "Driving Carl Crazy".

History[]

In "Driving Carl Crazy", Steve Urkel's uncle Cecil paid him fifty dollars to take the Isetta from him, which Urkel used to try and impress Laura Winslow, and receive driving lessons from Carl Winslow.

It was involved in an accident in "Paradise Bluff", but it was repaired twice and seen in both "Hot Rods to Heck" and "Don't Make Me Over". It also appeared in "It Didn't Happen One Night". The car was modified by Urkel to travel at supersonic speed.

In "Stefan Returns", it is mentioned that Stefan Urquelle drives the car on several occasions.

Trivia[]

  • Jaleel White has said in recent interviews and convention appearances that he keeps the car in his home; by way of his contract, he was allowed to keep it. It is in pristine condition and it can still be driven.[1]
  • In real life, the top speed of a BMW Isetta is 53 mph to 60 mph (as indicated on the speedometer). Jaleel was, however, told by the directors of the episodes in which the Isetta appeared to drive it very slowly, to accentuate the common insult of it being a clown car. [2]
